Much to be thankful for...

Thanksgiving is a very special day for most of us but for those who have received the gift of a new lung or two and can now breathe a bit easier there's so much more to be thankful for.

It's sometimes hard for me to imagine getting a much-needed lung transplant and being able to stay on our planet longer to, among other things, enjoy more Thanksgiving holidays. If you're a lung transplant recipient, I know what will be foremost in your mind as you reflect today on the things for which you are most grateful.

All of us at One Breath at a Time hope your Thanksgiving with family, friends or in your own good company will be joyous and delicious. It will certainly be a day to be thankful for this great life and for the forethought of those generous enough to promise a lung or other organ so that if circumstances presented themselves someone else could have a longer, better life.

Donors, doctors, technicians, nurses, physical therapists, medical secretaries and assistants - ALL the members of transplant teams at Tampa General Hospital and everywhere - THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE!

-Tony
